Chiefs may trade up for offensive tackle Josh Simmons
The Kansas City Chiefs hold the 31st pick in the NFL Draft. They are considering a trade to move up and select a better player. According to NFL's Mike Band, the Chiefs might trade with the Minnesota Vikings for the 24th pick. Band predicts that the Chiefs would choose Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons if they make the trade. However, Simmons has some injury issues. He is recovering from a patella tendon tear from October, and his medical clearance will be important for his draft stock. When healthy, Simmons has the size and skills that the Chiefs like in an offensive tackle. The Chiefs want to protect their star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Even though they recently signed Jaylon Moore, they are still looking to strengthen the offensive line. Simmons has been following the Chiefs and Mahomes on social media, which has led to speculation about a possible fit in Kansas City. The Chiefs faced a tough pass rush from the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. They recently traded Joe Thuney but have franchise-tagged Trey Smith. If the Chiefs want to trade up, they may need to give away a day-two pick along with their current spot.
