Child injured in Grand Forks hit-and-run incident

An elementary school-aged child was injured in a hit-and-run incident in Grand Forks on Monday morning. The accident happened around 8 a.m. near North 39th Street and Sixth Avenue North, as the child was reportedly walking to school. Police Chief Rodney Clark said that a University of North Dakota (UND) officer arrived quickly and helped control the bleeding from the child's head. Paramedics transported the child to Altru Hospital. As of Monday afternoon, the child's condition was stable, and the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The police have identified a driver of a vehicle that may be linked to the hit-and-run. The vehicle is described as a silver or gray Ram 1500, from the years 2008 to 2018. Police have spoken with the driver, but no charges have been filed yet. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the UND police department.
