Children in Manipur enjoy water park outing

Children living in relief camps in Manipur had a special day at a water park on March 23, 2025. This outing took place in Imphal, the state capital. The trip was organized by the State's Tourism Department with help from the Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited, which provided food and support for the children. The water park, located in Thenguchingjin, was opened in March 2024 by former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh. Singh had to resign on February 9 of this year, just days before President's Rule was put in place. He shared on social media that he worked with government departments to offer free passes for the children from relief camps, keeping a promise made to representatives of the displaced Meitei community. Biren Singh expressed his joy about the outing, thanking the local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers for their help. He represents the Heingang Assembly constituency, which is where the event was organized. Last year, the Manipur government announced plans to expand the amusement park and build more parks in other parts of the state. These plans include construction in areas affected by recent ethnic conflicts, which have caused significant hardship for thousands of people.
