Chilkur temple priest insists funds for spiritual use only
The head priest of Chilkur Devasthanam, C.S. Rangarajan, is advocating for the use of temple funds to be limited to spiritual activities. He spoke to the media on March 24, emphasizing that money should support rituals like ‘dhoopa deepa and naivedhyam’ instead of being spent on road construction or maintenance. Rangarajan expressed his belief that temple income should focus on enhancing spiritual experiences, especially for poorer temples. He is confident that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, led by Chairman B.R. Naidu, will discuss his concerns in their meeting on the same day. He also shared that he visited the town seeking blessings from Lord Venkateswara after surviving a recent attack on his home.
