China allows Americans to visit for up to 10 days without a visa
China has expanded its visa-free transit policy, allowing Americans and other eligible travelers to stay for up to 10 days. This change, effective immediately, applies to 54 countries and replaces the previous 72 to 144-hour limit. Travelers can enter China through 60 locations across 24 provinces, including Beijing and Shanghai, with confirmed exit tickets. The new policy aims to attract more international visitors as China recovers from pandemic isolation. Additionally, the U.S. State Department has lowered its travel advisory for China from Level 3 to Level 2, following the release of three Americans detained in China. The updated advisory removes specific warnings about wrongful detentions but still cautions about local law enforcement.
