China allows countermeasures for foreign intellectual property disputes
China's cabinet announced new regulations on Wednesday. The rules allow China to take countermeasures if foreign nations apply unfair or restrictive measures against its people or companies regarding intellectual property disputes. The State Council aims to strengthen China's response to what it views as external "containment and suppression." This new regulation is part of Beijing's approach to handling foreign-related intellectual property issues. The regulation will go into effect on May 1. While it does not mention any specific country, it seems aimed at the United States and the European Union. Both have accused China of violating intellectual property rights and forcing technology transfers in trade disputes. Further updates are expected.
