China extends visa-free transit stay for tourists to 10 days
China has expanded its visa-free transit policy, allowing citizens from 54 countries, including the U.S. and U.K., to stay for up to 240 hours, or 10 days. This is an increase from the previous limit of 72 to 144 hours. The change aims to boost tourism as China recovers from COVID-19 restrictions. The National Immigration Administration announced that travelers can enter through 60 ports across 24 provinces while remaining in designated areas. In related news, Shenzhen residents can now apply for multiple-entry visas to Hong Kong, reversing a previous limit of one trip per week. This change aims to stimulate tourism and restore a system that existed until 2015.
