China increases visa-free transit stay to 10 days for foreign travelers

China has extended its visa-free transit policy, allowing eligible foreign travelers to stay for up to 10 days, or 240 hours, instead of the previous 72-144 hours. This change is effective immediately. The new policy applies to citizens from 54 countries, including the U.S., U.K., and Brazil, who can enter China without a visa at 60 open ports across 24 provinces. This move follows China's efforts to boost tourism after reopening its borders in 2023. Inbound trips to China increased significantly, with over half attributed to the visa-free policy.
