China increases visa-free transit stay to 10 days to boost tourism
China has updated its visa-free transit policy, allowing eligible foreign travelers to stay for up to 10 days, an increase from the previous limit of 72-144 hours. This change aims to boost tourism. The new policy applies to travelers from 54 countries, including the U.S., U.K., and Brazil. They can enter China without a visa at 60 open ports across 24 provinces. Since reopening its borders in 2023, China has been encouraging foreign visits. Inbound trips rose by 48.8% in the third quarter of 2024, with over half benefiting from the visa-free policy.
