China launches largest solar power plant to generate energy for two million homes
China has launched the Mengxi Blue Ocean Photovoltaic Power Station in Inner Mongolia, its largest solar power plant with a capacity of 3 GW. The facility, covering 7,000 hectares, will generate 5.7 billion kWh annually, enough to power two million homes. This project transforms a former coal mining site and is part of China's strategy to increase renewable energy in less populated areas. It aims to reduce coal use by 1.71 million tons each year, cutting carbon emissions by 4.7 million tons. The solar plant features innovative designs, including a large-scale outdoor testing base and AI technology for improved efficiency. It also incorporates grazing areas for livestock and uses steel foundations to minimize environmental impact.
