China unveils RT-G, a spherical robot designed to assist police in crime prevention

China has introduced the RT-G, an AI-powered spherical police robot designed to assist law enforcement. Developed by Logon Technology, the robot can patrol streets, detect disturbances, and autonomously pursue suspects using a net gun. The RT-G can operate on land and water, withstand heavy impacts, and move at speeds up to 35 km/h. It is equipped with facial recognition technology and non-lethal tools like tear gas sprayers and loudspeakers. This innovation follows previous robotic crime-fighting efforts in China, including a quadruped robot known as the robo-dog. The RT-G's production costs range from approximately $41,300 to $55,000.
