China's 'monster ship' spotted near Lubang Island in the Philippines

A Chinese Coast Guard vessel, known as the "monster ship," was spotted near Lubang Island in Occidental Mindoro on Monday. It had previously been monitored off the coast of Zambales, moving northward over the past few days. The Philippine Coast Guard reported that the ship is currently 80 nautical miles from Lubang Island. So far, it has not interfered with Filipino fishermen in the area. In response to the ship's presence, the Philippine Coast Guard deployed a vessel and a helicopter to investigate. They assert that the Chinese ship is operating within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone.
