China's PLA aircraft violated Taiwan's median line, increasing tensions
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported that 20 out of 26 sorties from China's People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait on Monday morning. This marks an increase in Chinese military activity near Taiwan. The PLA aircraft were detected at 6:40 am local time, entering various regions of Taiwan's air defense identification zone. This follows a similar incident the previous day, where Taiwan noted one PLA sortie and multiple Chinese vessels nearby. Tensions have risen as China conducts military exercises and emphasizes its readiness to respond to any moves toward Taiwan's independence. Taiwan has been self-governing since 1949, but China views it as part of its territory.
