Chinese electric vehicle makers target Africa with new investments in Egypt

Chinese electric vehicle makers are increasing investments in Africa, with Egypt attracting attention. BAIC and Zeekr recently announced plans to enter the Egyptian market, supported by the government’s push to develop local car manufacturing. Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister Kamel al-Wazir confirmed that 120,000 square meters of land have been allocated for the new project. This initiative aligns with President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi’s goal to establish Egypt as a regional industrial hub. The new plant aims to meet local demand and export vehicles to other African nations and the Middle East. Egypt's strategic location near the Suez Canal enhances its appeal for international trade.
