Chinese police debut robotic assistants at F1 Grand Prix
Chinese police showcased two advanced robots at the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix in Shanghai. The robots, named G1 and GO2, were developed by the Chinese robotics company Unitree. The G1 is a humanoid robot that stands about 4 feet tall. It can carry up to 6.6 pounds and move at a speed of 5 miles per hour. The GO2 resembles a dog and can carry as much as 26 pounds, running at a speed of 11 miles per hour. Both robots use LiDAR technology to navigate their surroundings. Videos from Unitree demonstrated the robots' abilities. The G1 was seen dancing and manipulating a bo staff, while the GO2 performed impressive jumps and playful movements. This display impressed many at the event. Just days before this demonstration, chipmaker Nvidia introduced their own robot named Blue, which has two legs and stands about 3 feet tall. Blue uses movements similar to popular animated characters and is part of a collaboration with Google and Disney. Blue will appear at various Disney theme parks this summer. In response to Nvidia's robot, Boston Dynamics also shared a video featuring their humanoid robot, Atlas, who showed off its acrobatic skills, including cartwheels and breakdancing. While these robots mark significant advancements in technology, they also show that the competition in robotics is heating up among leading tech companies.
