Chris Gayle intimidated by Ravichandran Ashwin's bowling

Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth talked about Chris Gayle's struggles against Ravichandran Ashwin, calling it a unique situation in cricket. He mentioned that despite Gayle's power to hit sixes and fours against any bowler, he faced immense pressure when Ashwin bowled. Srikkanth noted that it took Ashwin just four balls to dismiss Gayle, adding that Gayle seemed scared, even saying, "Gayle’s legs started shaking" when Ashwin prepared to bowl. Ashwin has a strong record against Gayle, having gotten him out five times in the Indian Premier League. Srikkanth praised former India captain MS Dhoni for recognizing Ashwin's talent and helping him evolve into a successful player across all formats of the game. In the recent IPL 2025 auction, Ashwin was acquired for Rs 9.75 crore by the Chennai Super Kings, a team where he started his IPL career. Chennai’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, shared a fond memory of their early friendship, stating they bonded during the 2009 IPL in South Africa.
