Christian Gonzalez could become a top-paid cornerback

The New England Patriots picked Christian Gonzalez in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. A former Patriots player, Devin McCourty, believes Gonzalez could earn a huge contract soon. He spoke about Gonzalez on a podcast, saying the young cornerback might command $30 to $35 million a year. McCourty noted that Gonzalez's talent may not be fully recognized because the Patriots do not play many primetime games. Last season, Gonzalez had 11 passes defended and two interceptions. He allowed only a 55.7 completion percentage against him, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors. Currently, Derek Stingley Jr. holds the title of the highest-paid corner in the NFL at $30 million a year. If Gonzalez reaches $35 million, he would surpass that mark. McCourty, who spent 13 years with the Patriots and was a three-time Pro Bowler, believes Gonzalez will prove himself as one of the best corners in the league this year.
