Christians pray for Pope Francis’ health and suffering
On Friday afternoon, Christians from different traditions came together at the San Lorenzo in Piscibus parish in Rome. They held an ecumenical prayer service for the health of Pope Francis and for all those who are suffering. The celebration was organized by the Taizé Community and the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, along with other church groups. The opening prayer emphasized unity among various Christian denominations while asking for healing for Pope Francis and others in need. During the service, they recited the Psalm "Bless the Lord, O my soul," and read a passage from Saint Paul's Letter to the Ephesians in multiple languages. Prayers were offered for the sick, their caregivers, and the medical staff helping them. The mass also included prayers for peace in conflict zones like Ukraine and Gaza. Participants asked for awareness about global warming and urged for better stewardship of the earth, which they believe is a divine gift. The service ended with a blessing from leaders of various Christian traditions. They once again prayed for Pope Francis and concluded with the hymn "Bonum est confidere in Domino."
