Christina Applegate hospitalized over 30 times for MS
Christina Applegate has shared details about her struggle with multiple sclerosis (MS) over the past three years. In a recent episode of her podcast "MeSsy," she revealed that she has been hospitalized over 30 times since her diagnosis. Applegate, 53, described her health issues, saying she often experiences severe symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and pain. She noted that using the bathroom can be very difficult for her. Although doctors have told her these symptoms are not typically related to MS, she believes there is a connection. She called for healthcare professionals to consider patients' experiences rather than strictly following medical guidelines. Applegate was diagnosed with MS in August 2021 and noted that her journey has been challenging but supported by others with the same condition. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease that harms the central nervous system. The exact cause is still unknown, but it's thought to be linked to genetic and environmental factors. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and women are more likely to develop the disease. Several other celebrities, such as Joan Didion and Montel Williams, also live with MS. Applegate's openness about her health struggles aims to raise awareness about the condition.
