CICC trains Philippine law enforcers in digital forensics
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is working to improve digital investigation skills among law enforcement in the Philippines. A training event is scheduled for March 24 to 26, 2025, at the National Cybercrime Hub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The training is called “Safe Seizure, Storage, and Acquisition of Digital Evidence.” It will focus on digital forensics, which helps in collecting and analyzing electronic evidence for legal cases. The CICC has teamed up with Astria Corporation to deliver this program. CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos highlighted the importance of digital investigations in fighting cybercrime. He noted that as online crime complaints rise, integrating digital forensics is essential. He believes this training is a crucial step toward creating a safer digital space for Filipinos. Jonathan Shorter, a lead forensic examiner from Astria Corporation, added that digital evidence plays a key role in cases of online fraud and cybercrime. The aim of their collaboration is to equip law enforcement officers with hands-on skills to handle digital evidence properly. This ensures that the evidence can be used effectively in court.
