Cigarette price dispute leads to stabbing in Damietta
In northern Egypt's Damietta Governorate, a fight over cigarette prices led to a serious stabbing on Friday. This violent incident occurred just days before the end of Ramadan. The conflict began when a microbus driver tried to buy a pack of cigarettes at a local bus station. The argument started over an extra five Egyptian pounds, which is about 37 fils. What started as a simple purchase turned into a physical fight. During the quarrel, one man pulled out a knife and stabbed the other deeply. The wound extended from the victim's lower abdomen to his chest. Bystanders looked on in shock as the victim fell to the ground, bleeding heavily. Fortunately, the man who was attacked survived the stabbing. He was taken to a hospital for emergency surgery. His current condition is not known, and there has been no official update on his injuries. Local authorities have arrested the suspect involved in the stabbing. He is now in custody while the public prosecution conducts further investigations.
