Italian brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo have expanded their family business by opening a new café in Liverpool. This is their fourth Gran Caffè location, which opened on Jesse Hartley Way on March 23. The café features their Carmine Bakery on-site. The Cillo brothers began their journey more than ten years ago when they opened their first coffee shop, originally named P&D Deli, in Williamson Square’s Italian Quarter. Over the years, they have established several family-run businesses in Lark Lane and Duke Street as well. The new café welcomed its first customer with a special treat: a half-metre croissant. The next 99 customers enjoyed complimentary coffee, fresh croissants, or artisan gelato. The opening coincided with the Liverpool Half Marathon, which drew thousands of people to the area. Donato expressed pride in the new location, highlighting its importance to the development of the area near Bramley-Moore Dock. He emphasized the excitement of being part of the growing community. Paolo noted that the past year has been significant for Gran Caffè, leading them to expand into more areas, including plans for another site in Park Central in early 2025.
