Cinelux launches Nexa-Mag storage for legacy RED cameras
Cinelux, a new British company that makes accessories for cinema cameras, has launched a new storage solution called the Nexa-Mag. This product is designed for legacy RED DSMC1 and DSMC2 cameras, which are often used in high-value productions. David Morgan Jones, the entrepreneur behind Cinelux, recognized a storage issue with older RED cameras. The original Mini-Mags used for these cameras were made over a decade ago and are starting to fail. After a year of development, the Nexa-Mag was created from scratch, modernizing the original Mini-Mags. The Nexa-Mag features CNC machined aluminum and is available in two sizes: 480 GB and 960 GB. It uses advanced Toshiba components and offers read speeds up to 570 mb/s, making it 25% faster than the original Mini-Mag. The design also improves ergonomics, making it easier to handle and fit inside the camera. Cinelux will produce a limited run of 100 Nexa-Mags to ensure quality control. Pre-orders are set to begin this Thursday, with shipping expected in mid-May. The prices are $545 for the 480 GB version and $795 for the 960 GB version, with a 30% discount available during the pre-order period.
