Civil services aspirants urged to study various subjects
A meeting for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants took place at Alagappa University in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district. The event was organized by The Hindu, along with Shankar IAS Academy and Alagappa Institute of Management. Sivaganga Collector Asha Ajith spoke at the meeting. Ajith emphasized that hard work is essential for passing the UPSC exam. She noted that the location of study, such as Delhi, is not as important as the effort one puts into preparation. She advised students to read across various subjects to build a broad understanding. The Collector encouraged aspirants to adopt an analytical approach to their studies. She explained that effective time management is key. Students should dedicate at least one year to thorough preparation. Group studies and discussions were also highlighted as beneficial for learning. They allow students to explore different perspectives, which can improve understanding and analytical skills. G. Ravi, the Vice-Chancellor of Alagappa University, stressed the importance of UPSC for national development. Arjun Nathan from Shankar IAS Academy provided details about the examination process. The event included more than 600 students and faculty members. As part of the gathering, a donation of ₹30,000 worth of publications from The Hindu was made to the Department Library of the Alagappa Institute of Management.
