Cleveland Heights council discusses short-term rental concerns
Cleveland Heights City Council met on March 17 to discuss ongoing concerns about short-term rental housing. Residents from Bainbridge Road raised issues about noise and parking violations linked to these properties. Valerie Edwards, a resident, reported problems with a vehicle that had been parked incorrectly on her street for two weeks. She noted that the car made a loud noise, waking up neighbors. Edwards also highlighted safety issues at a nearby intersection, expressing worries about cars ignoring stop signs. City Council President Tony Cuda acknowledged the residents' frustrations and mentioned plans to advance proposed legislation on short-term rentals. Councilman Jim Petras stated that the law department is reviewing potential state legislation that might limit local regulations on short-term housing. Complaints about these rentals have been ongoing since at least 2020, affecting various neighborhoods in Cleveland Heights. The next Housing and Building Committee meeting is scheduled for April 7, where further discussions will take place.
