Two important highway ramps near Cleveland will close this spring and summer for repairs. The ramps from Interstate 480 to I-77 will be shut down from April 28 until early September. This closure will affect around 16,000 drivers daily. In addition, another ramp on Ohio 176 will also be closed for bridge work, starting on the same day. This ramp leads to I-71 south and is important for access to nearby areas, including the MetroHealth campus. This closure is expected to last until November. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is making these changes to improve safety for construction workers and complete the work faster. The repairs for the I-480/I-77 ramps will cost about $7.6 million, while the repairs on Ohio 176 are estimated at $7.5 million. ODOT has suggested some detours. For drivers heading from I-480 east to I-77 north, they should take Transportation Boulevard and then return on I-480 west. Drivers using I-480 west to I-77 south can exit onto Ohio Route 17 and then head back to I-77. Other detours are provided for drivers heading to Steelyard Commons, MetroHealth, and West 14th Street. ODOT emphasizes the importance of planning ahead to reduce delays during this period of construction.
