Cleveland's St. Patrick's Day Parade drew 10,000 participants
Cleveland celebrated its 183rd St. Patrick's Day parade on Monday with about 10,000 participants in 125 groups. The parade celebrated the life of St. Brigid, the matron saint of Ireland. This year marks 1,500 years since her death. The parade took place under clear blue skies and a warm sun. Participants marched along Superior Avenue, cheered on by enthusiastic crowds. Many parade-goers lined the sidewalks, hoping to catch candy or get a high-five from the Guardians mascot, Slider. Cleveland's St. Patrick's Day parade is the oldest in Ohio. However, its route may change in the future. A proposed bike lane could make Superior Avenue too narrow for the parade to continue as it traditionally has.
