CM Fadnavis inspects Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik on Sunday to review plans for the Kumbh Mela in 2027. This event is expected to attract millions of devotees. During his visit, Fadnavis held meetings with officials to discuss infrastructure, security, and crowd management. The main ceremonial bath, known as Amrit Snan, will take place between July and October 2027. It is important for the state to ensure everything is in order for the large number of pilgrims. Fadnavis inspected logistical aspects and followed up with a meeting at the district collectorate to talk about upgrades in transportation and sanitation. Meanwhile, Maharashtra is also dealing with the aftermath of recent violence in Nagpur. The unrest, which began on March 17, was sparked by rumors about burning a holy chadar. Curfews were lifted in several areas of Nagpur, but restrictions remain in some places. As of March 22, authorities have arrested 92 people linked to the riots, which included stone pelting and arson. Fadnavis clarified that the violence was not related to any religious artifact but was fueled by misinformation. He praised the police for quickly controlling the situation but stressed that strict actions will be taken against those who incited violence. With millions expected at the Kumbh Mela, safety and security are top priorities. Lessons from the Nagpur riots highlight the need for better misinformation control and effective crowd management. Fadnavis's leadership is critical as the state prepares for the Kumbh Mela and continues to address security concerns.
