Coast Guard seizes $6 million cocaine off Fort Lauderdale
The U.S. Coast Guard has seized around 550 pounds of cocaine off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. This cocaine is valued at approximately $6 million. The operation took place on Monday when Coast Guard officials intercepted a 36-foot vessel. The suspected smugglers were captured and handed over to Coast Guard agents for federal prosecution. Lt. Daniel Sunday stated that the Coast Guard, along with various law enforcement partners, are committed to protecting maritime borders. Their goal is to prevent illegal drugs from entering communities. The operation was supported by help from Customs and Border Protection, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, and the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
