Cocky Rooster opens first SC location in Columbia
A new chicken restaurant called Cocky Rooster has opened in Columbia, South Carolina. This place is located in the Five Points area, specifically at 2019 Devine St. It is near other businesses like the Goat's bar and Men's Wearhouse. Cocky Rooster is a fast-casual eatery from Virginia. It serves chicken wings, sandwiches, and tenders. This location is the first outside of Virginia and is targeted at college students, especially those from the nearby University of South Carolina. The restaurant was opened by Curtis Lyons, who has experience in the restaurant business. He got the idea to open in Five Points after visiting his daughter, a USC student. The restaurant took over space previously occupied by Sushi Yoshi Japanese restaurant and a barbershop that moved to a new location. Renovations were made to connect both buildings, creating a larger dining area. The owners believe Cocky Rooster is a perfect spot for late-night meals, especially since it's close to bars and delivery services. Cocky Rooster will be open daily, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, and until 1 a.m. on Thursdays and 2 a.m. on weekends. A grand opening celebration is planned for March 21, featuring half-off food and a live DJ. They will also distribute many coupons during the event.
