The Coimbatore District Police arrested 32 history-sheeters on Sunday. They were apprehended during a special operation aimed at reducing crime in the area. Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan directed the formation of 20 special teams for this initiative. The police reported that 44 people were arrested in total, with 32 being identified as history-sheeters. These individuals were believed to be preparing to commit crimes, including robbery. They have been sent to judicial remand, while the remaining 12 individuals were released. Additionally, on Saturday, police conducted surprise checks at 80 dhabas, or roadside eateries, after receiving complaints about illegal liquor sales. Over 300 police officers took part in this operation. They used the Face Recognition System app to check the backgrounds of dhaba employees. Authorities found that 14 workers had previous criminal records. In a separate incident, a 43-year-old man from Singanallur was charged with drunk driving. The police stopped him after he failed to give way to an ambulance early in the morning. They discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol and found an air rifle in his car. He was allowed to return home with his family after the incident.
