Coimbatore's free video editing course sees 800 applicants
The Coimbatore city corporation started a free 30-day training program in graphic design and video editing. The launch on Thursday saw a surprising response, with over 500 people showing interest on the first day. Many seniors came out to enroll in the program. The training will use popular software tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. Program officials initially expected only 60 to 100 participants. Instead, they received more than 800 registrations, including some submitted online. One applicant, G Maheshwari, is 54 years old and runs a small fashion business in Palladam. She believes that confidence is key, regardless of age. Maheshwari hopes to expand her business and attract more customers through effective social media advertising. She feels the training will help her create and edit videos necessary for this effort. Siva Raghavi, the program convener, mentioned plans to expand the training batch size. Each group will consist of 60 students with four mentors to guide them. Applicants will be divided into groups based on their specific needs. They can also retake an online test to secure a spot in the training.
