Coimbatore's western bypass road project enters second phase

thehindu.com

The State Highways Department is set to begin the second phase of the western bypass road project in Coimbatore, pending government approval. A budget of ₹348 crore has been allocated for the development of 12.5 km of road. The first phase, which involves 11.8 km of four-lane road from Madukkarai to Madhampatti, began last year and is expected to finish by August. Currently, 60% of the first phase is complete, and land acquisition for the second phase is nearly finished. Once the government grants administrative sanction for the second phase, the department will invite tenders to select a contractor. Land acquisition for a third phase has also started.
