College student dead, seven injured in Gummidipoondi accident

A college student was killed, and seven others were injured in an accident near Gummidipoondi. The incident occurred on Sunday when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a coconut tree along GNT Road. The group of eight was traveling to Tada waterfalls from Tambaram. The SUV, driven by Mohammed Avesh, had Samreen and her cousins and friends on board. The accident happened as they reached the Tamil Nadu-AP border near Periavedu. The driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and hit the tree. Samreen died at the scene, while the other seven passengers sustained serious injuries. Local villagers notified the Tada police, who arrived to assist. The injured were taken to Government Stanley Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police sent Samreen's body to the Gummidipoondi government hospital for a postmortem.
