Colorado apprentices maintain St. Patrick’s Day float tradition
For 96 years, apprentices from Colorado Sheet Metal Workers have built a float for the St. Patrick's Day parade, continuing a tradition that started in 1929. The float is crafted by students year-round, showcasing their skills and teamwork. This year, apprentices like Luke Cusato and Alex Winters contributed to the float, gaining hands-on experience in metalwork. Former apprentice Armando Hernandez now helps current students find job opportunities in the industry, fostering connections within the Local 9 union. The parade attracted large crowds, featuring traditional Irish music and various festivities. Despite colder weather, the community celebrated with events like a 5k run and a scavenger hunt, highlighting the spirit of St. Patrick's Day.
