Colorado expects 'double-wave' snow storm in early April
Colorado will experience a warming trend starting Monday, with mostly dry weather expected for five days. Only light snow is predicted as the state transitions between storms. On Sunday, many ski areas enjoyed a sunny and breezy day. Some northern and central mountains reported over six inches of fresh snow, offering good conditions for skiing and snowboarding. The snow was wet but still easy to ride on. The National Weather Service forecasts daytime temperatures to reach the 40s and 50s during the warm period. A few weak disturbances may bring a trace to two inches of snow in certain areas later this week. One system may affect northern Colorado on Monday, while a second one is expected Thursday night into Friday. A larger storm system will develop on Friday, bringing snow to all mountain regions. The northern and central mountains are likely to see the heaviest snowfall, with snow continuing through Saturday afternoon. After a sunny finish to March, April will begin with more storm activity. Two waves of storms are forecast to bring snow from April 1 to April 4. A brief break in activity may occur on April 2. Additional details about these storms will be revealed in the coming days as forecasts become more refined.
