Colorado schools see rising concerns over safety, bullying
In February, Colorado students reported increased concerns about school safety and bullying, with 2,854 reports to the Safe2Tell hotline, a 12.3% rise from January. Safety and staff-related issues made up 18.6% of reports, while bullying accounted for 17.2%. The Safe2Tell program, established in 2017, allows anonymous reporting of safety concerns. This year, reports have increased overall, with 20,736 submissions from August to February, compared to 18,049 during the same period last year. Most reports were deemed valid, with only 1.5% classified as misuse and 2.2% as false. The program aims to help students and communities address issues before they escalate.
