Colorado to receive 8-14 inches of wet snow
A late-March storm is set to bring wet snow to Colorado, with forecasts predicting between 8 to 14 inches of snow by Sunday morning. This storm is expected to start Friday afternoon and bring heavy snowfall through Saturday. Temperatures in Colorado's high mountains have warmed up lately. On Thursday, highs were recorded at 27 degrees in Copper Mountain and 24 degrees at Aspen Highlands. Colorado's snowpack remains steady, currently at 92% of the average for this time of year. Light snow began falling in the northern mountains Friday morning, with more snow anticipated in the afternoon and evening. Forecasters indicate that increased moisture levels may result in higher snowfall than expected. On Saturday, skiing conditions are set to improve with heavy snowfall. Expected accumulations by Sunday morning are projected to be 6 to 12 inches in northern and central mountains, and 2 to 5 inches in the southern mountains. Following this weekend’s storm, Colorado will likely experience a break from significant snow until the end of March. However, another storm system is likely to affect the state as April begins.
