Columbia activist Mahmoud Khalil arrested by ICE on campus
Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist with a green card, was arrested by ICE at Columbia University. His wife revealed he requested legal help from the university just a day before his arrest, fearing he might be targeted. Khalil's wife, who is eight months pregnant, expressed concern for her safety and the need for her husband to be home for their child's birth. She stated that anti-Palestinian groups had begun targeting Khalil with false claims. Khalil's legal team is seeking a court order to return him to New York while they fight his detention. He is currently being held in Louisiana, which his attorney claims is an improper tactic to complicate the legal process.
