Columbia hosts concerts and shows this week
This week in Columbia, there are plenty of events to enjoy, including concerts, shows, and food experiences. On Wednesday, the musical "Hadestown" will be performed at 7:30 PM at the Koger Center for the Arts. This award-winning show explores a haunting yet hopeful alternate world through music. Tickets range from $26 to $102. Also on Wednesday, wine lovers can attend a tasting featuring six Italian wines at Homeland Craft Beer & Wine at 7 PM. The cost is $20. On Thursday, the Parker Quartet will perform at the Koger Center at 7:30 PM. The Grammy-winning ensemble will play pieces by Zemlinsky, Ades, and Brahms. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for students. Columbia’s own band, Prettier Than Matt, will play at Twisted Roots Bar & Grill at 7 PM also on Thursday. This event is free. Friday features country singer Wesko performing at New Brookland Tavern at 7 PM with a ticket price of $15. Additionally, comedian Mike Epps will host a night of comedy at Colonial Life Arena at 8 PM, featuring a variety of artists. Tickets range from $72 to $129. Nu Blu, a North Carolina bluegrass band, will perform at Bill's Music Shop at 8 PM on Friday for $15. On Saturday, the Americana duo Shovels & Rope will take the stage at The Senate at 8 PM with tickets costing $37. Art Bar will feature quieter music from local bands at 9 PM for $10, while Groove Masters will present a jazz night at Chayz Lounge for $30 at 8 PM. Sunday offers a classical concert by pianist Ilya Yakushev at 3 PM at Newberry Opera House for $45. A free gospel music performance by Darrell & Dawn Richie will be held at Edmund First Baptist Church at 10:45 AM. Next Monday, Tasting Notes returns with over 80 wines to sample, various dishes from 20 restaurants, and live music at the SC State Museum at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $125 each. Lastly, on Tuesday, there will be a gardening workshop at South Congaree Branch Library at 5:30 PM, where attendees can learn to plant heirloom vegetables. This event is free.
