Columbia student Mahmoud Khalil arrested for Hamas activities
Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University student and anti-Israel activist, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for allegedly leading activities linked to Hamas. The Department of Homeland Security cited national security concerns. Khalil, a Palestinian raised in Syria, had been involved in protests against Israel and was associated with the Columbia University Apartheid Divest group. His green card and student visa are being revoked. A federal judge has temporarily blocked his deportation while legal proceedings are ongoing. Khalil's attorney claims his constitutional rights were violated during the arrest.
