Columbus man arrested for robbing armored car employee
A 21-year-old man from Columbus was arrested for stealing a bag of cash from an employee of an armored car service. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in Valleyview. Yelon Shepherd is facing charges of robbery and felony theft. According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the Brinks employee was refilling an ATM at a store when Shepherd grabbed the money bag from him. After the theft, the employee chased Shepherd, but he escaped in a dark Ford SUV. Later that night, deputies caught Shepherd at around 11:30 p.m. He is now being held at the Franklin County Jail. During an arraignment hearing on Friday, a judge set his bond at $20,000. He is also ordered not to return to the store where the theft occurred. The sheriff's office is still investigating the case.
