Comac to increase C919 production capacity to 200 jets

China's leading aircraft manufacturer, Comac, is set to increase production of its C919 jet. The company plans to boost its production capacity by 50% this year. This will raise the total output to 75 planes, up from the 50 jets previously announced. At a conference in Xian, Comac shared its goal to produce 200 C919 jets annually by 2029. This includes plans to increase output to over 50 jets this year, up from an earlier target of 30. The projected annual output is expected to reach 150 jets by 2029. Although details were not confirmed by Comac, information from the conference circulated widely on social media sites like Weibo. According to the plan presented, production capacity will increase to 100 planes next year. However, the company faces rising costs. Annual procurement costs for the C919 program have jumped 70% compared to last year. This year's estimated cost is about 34 billion yuan, which is roughly US$4.7 billion.
