Commonwealth Avenue lanes closed for MRT7 construction
Lanes of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City were closed on Sunday morning for work on the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT7) project. The closures affected traffic from near University Avenue to Tandang Sora Avenue. The work involved installing beams for a footbridge connecting to the MRT7 Tandang Sora Station. Although the Department of Transportation planned to reopen the lanes by 4 a.m., the work extended, with lanes expected to reopen by 10 a.m. A zipper lane was opened for motorists heading toward Fairview. The MRT7 project will include 14 stations and aims to reduce travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte to 35 minutes once fully operational.
