Conard wins second consecutive Division III state hockey title

The Conard boys ice hockey team has won its second consecutive Division III state championship. They defeated JBWA 4-1 on Saturday at Quinnipiac's M&T Bank Arena. Conard scored early in the game with a goal from junior Jack Eisenberg. Freshman Nate Dubois followed with another goal in the first period, both assisted by Torin McGoldrick. JBWA managed to score once, making it 2-1, but Conard finished the first period strong with a goal from sophomore Henry Tamaccio just before the buzzer. In the third period, senior Porter Andrews secured Conard's victory with the final goal. The team ended the season with a record of 17 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties. Coach Jason Olson expressed joy at the win, noting the different dynamics of this year's team compared to last year. Last year's championship was their first since 1996, but they lost many senior players since then. Olson was unsure how this year's team would perform. He emphasized teamwork over individual talent this time around. Earlier in the season, Conard tied JBWA 2-2. Olson reflected on the season, saying it was surprising how well the team came together in the final games. He had not expected them to do so well given the team's losses from the previous year.
