Congo receives 99,000 mpox vaccine doses to combat outbreak

The Democratic Republic of Congo received its first batch of 99,000 mpox vaccine doses on September 5, 2024, as part of efforts to combat a significant outbreak. The vaccines, manufactured by Bavarian Nordic and donated by the European Union, arrived in Kinshasa. A subsequent delivery is expected to bring the total to 200,000 doses, amid a global public health emergency declaration by the UN.
