Congress appoints presidents in all 75 Uttar Pradesh districts
The Congress party has made significant changes in Uttar Pradesh by appointing new leaders for all 75 district party units. This restructuring aims to enhance the party's focus on social justice and caste balance. On Thursday, the party announced new district and city presidents. Some key appointments include Rudra Daman Singh as the president of the District Congress Committee in Lucknow. In Kanpur, Sandeep Shukla will lead the Kanpur Nagar-Gramin unit, while Pawan Gupta will head the city unit. The party has released a list of 133 new leaders, emphasizing support for Dalits, OBCs, and minorities. A senior Congress leader noted that this move aligns with the party's social justice agenda championed by Rahul Gandhi. The aim is to balance caste representation and reward effective leaders. These changes come after the Congress dissolved its Uttar Pradesh units in December 2024. Following a consultation process in January 2025, the party hopes to mix experienced leaders with new faces to boost its influence in the state.
