Congressman Mackenzie discusses policies in first town hall

He discussed his proposals aiming to support working families. Mackenzie introduced four bills aimed at expanding tax credits for maternity leave, child care, the child tax credit, and adoption assistance, including support for IVF. On immigration, he emphasized the importance of job eligibility for federal contractors, proposing to expand the use of E-Verify. Regarding Social Security and Medicare, he promised no changes to these programs, which he believes are crucial for seniors and vulnerable populations. Mackenzie is also on the Foreign Affairs Committee and expressed his views on USAID funding, advocating for Congress to have a strong role in decision-making processes. He stressed the need for careful oversight of the executive branch. On the crisis in Ukraine, Mackenzie condemned Russia's actions under President Putin. He expressed hope for a peaceful resolution, emphasizing the importance of communication and negotiations. Lastly, he addressed concerns about the national debt, which he described as a significant issue. With over $36 trillion in debt, he acknowledged the need for budget reform to prevent further financial difficulties.
