A Connecticut man has been arrested after being accused of leading police on a high-speed chase during a traffic stop in 2024. Milton Westley, aged 45, from Waterbury, turned himself in to police on Wednesday. He faces charges for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, reckless driving, and engaging police in pursuit. The incident occurred on May 11, 2024, on Route 8 in Beacon Falls. A state trooper spotted Westley's silver BMW traveling at a speed of 80 mph in a 55 mph zone around 1:30 a.m. The trooper noticed the BMW was pulling ahead rapidly and had a New Jersey temporary registration sticker. As the trooper attempted to stop the BMW, Westley allegedly came to a stop on the right shoulder. However, when the trooper instructed Westley to put the car in park, the brake lights turned off, and Westley sped away. The trooper decided not to pursue due to safety concerns. Later, the trooper linked the vehicle to Westley through a DMV query and noted that his driver's license was suspended. Attempts to contact Westley at his home were unsuccessful. Eventually, a warrant for his arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
