A man from Connecticut has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for selling fentanyl. Eddie Limas, 35, from New Britain, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Sarala V. Nagala in Hartford. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges involving large amounts of fentanyl. Investigators learned that Limas was receiving fentanyl from the Dominican Republic. The drugs were stored in a stash house in the Bronx, New York, before being sold in Connecticut. From January to April 2022, the FBI monitored five purchases of fentanyl from Limas. On May 13, 2022, police stopped a vehicle driven by Limas' uncle, Hector Limas, in Danbury. They found 700 grams of fentanyl and about $19,000 in cash. While police attempted to arrest Eddie Limas in Hartford, he crashed his vehicle into a police cruiser and escaped. At Eddie Limas' home, authorities saw a neighbor taking bags and boxes out. The neighbor was later detained. A search revealed over two kilograms of fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and a firearm in the vehicle. Eddie Limas was eventually arrested on May 9, 2023, during another drug sale. Hector Limas and Carmen Hernandez, 61, were also charged. Hector Limas was sentenced to 90 months in prison, and Hernandez received 24 months. Eddie Limas has been in custody since his arrest.
